The Frazier Park area is gearing up for a chance to stop and smell the flowers.

Pine Mountain Club's 26th annual Lilac Festival is set for May 17-18, featuring music, arts and crafts, food and children's activities.

The event kicks off at 11 a.m. on May 17 with a parade featuring marching bands, rock bands, a drum line, equestrians and floats.

Leading it all will be radio station KNZR's "Dodger Man" Ralph Bailey. Capping off the parade will be a team of acrobatic skydivers parachuting onto the golf course.

"This year's Lilac Festival promises to be the best yet. The entertainment is great," festival chair Mark Bailey, owner of Madd Bailey's Pub, said in a statement. "We have many new vendors, as well as traditional favorites.

"We hope to see visitors from the big cities, as well as our mountain communities."

Entertainment will take place each day in the village gazebo and the pavilion outside Madd Bailey's Pub.Helicopter rides, offering a bird's eye view of the mountain and valley area, will take off from the pad near the fire station.

Produced by the Pine Mountain Club Commercial Property Owners Association, the festival celebrates the end of winter.

Pine Mountain Club is located in the Los Padres National Forest at an elevation of approximately 5,500 feet. Exit Interstate 5 at Frazier Mountain Park Road, and head west approximately 12 miles.

At the Mt. Pinos fork, veer right and continue six miles to Pine Mountain Club.
