Hart School District students, parents and staff are invited to attend a Drug Awareness Seminar from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, at Rancho Pico Junior High School, sponsored by the district's Comprehensive Alcohol and Drug Reduction Education (CADRE) program. The seminar is first in a series of monthly informational meetings designed to keep local teens from drug and alcohol abuse.

The Hart District will host the initial seminar in conjunction with MEDTOX Laboratories, which is in charge of the district's voluntary random drug testing program. Keynote speaker will be Tom Lorenz, a local resident who deals with narcotics violations through his role as detective in a nearby police department.

Participants will receive information regarding drug use and abuse in the local community, descriptions of how the CADRE program works and the support services that are available to students and families. Handout materials will be provided by the MEDTOX drug abuse recognition program.

Families which have not already enrolled their students in the Hart District's voluntary random drug testing program also will have the opportunity to do so at the seminar. Rancho Pico Junior High School is located at 26250 Valencia Blvd. in Stevenson Ranch.
