A Newhall traffic stop ended with three local residents arrested for allegedly having stolen the car and using it in several burglaries.

Christopher Morejon, 20, of Canyon Country, Jaspreet Bassi, 29, of Newhall and Jacquelyn Hiner, 21, of Castaic, were arrested Friday night on Sierra Highway near the intersection of Placerita Canyon Road, according to a sheriff's report.

The car the trio was in had been reported stolen from a Stevenson Ranch garage on April 24.

Inside the car, deputies reportedly found a pellet gun, drug paraphernalia, identification documents belonging to other people, and other property that, according to the report, was apparently stolen during other burglaries and thefts in Valencia.

Morejon, who was driving, and Hiner were reportedly under the influence of a controlled substance.

The three were booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station.

Morejon was booked on felony charges of grand theft auto and receiving stolen property, and a misdemeanor charge of being under the influence of a controlled substance. He is being held without bail as he was reportedly on felony parole at the time of the arrest.

Bassi was booked on felony charges of taking a vehicle without the owner's consent and receiving stolen property, as well as misdemeanor charges of petty theft, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of personal identifying information. He is being held in lieu of $25,000.

Hiner was booked on felony charges of taking a vehicle without the owner's consent and receiving stolen property, and a misdemeanor charge of being under the influence of a controlled substance. She is being held in lieu of $25,000 bail.

The investigation is ongoing.
