Officials at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station confirmed the report.
Valencia High's prom wsa hosted by the California Science Center in Exposition Park in Los Angeles last Saturday. The vast majority who attended the prom reportedly parked their vehicles in the school parking lot on Saturday afternoon, and were bussed to Exposition Park.
The vehicles were apparently broken into on Saturday night between 6 p.m., shortly after the last bus left, and midnight, when the first bus returned.
Among the items stolen were car stereos, purses and other personal items. One prom-goer, who was not a Valencia student but attended the prom with his girlfriend - a senior at the school - claimed he suffered more than $5,000 in damage to his truck.
Students and parents immediately reported the thefts to the sheriff's station. An investigation is underway.
According to Shoberg, this was the second such incident at Valencia High. Last spring, several seniors' vehicles were broken into on Grad Night. Similar to last weekend's prom, Valencia's seniors parked their cars in the school lot before bussing to the Grad Night festivities.
