Can’t understand Decoro

I fail to understand how the new layout of Decoro Drive is beneficial to anyone in this city.

It is downright maddening for me, a resident who has used Decoro Drive since it was first paved, to watch the road go from two lanes in each direction to just one. The new layout slows traffic at all times of the day and seems to only have the added benefit of a new bike lane.

As an avid bicyclist who has traversed Decoro many times without incident and cannot even remember any serious accidents involving a bicyclist on Decoro, I fail to understand how this was approved. There must be a personal or ulterior motive behind this new change.

In a city growing fast every day and where roads are constantly being reworked and widened, I simply cannot believe such a dumb decision that affects so many was made by so few. Which road will be chopped down to two lanes next? Lyons? Railroad?

I feel as though I am in bad dream, but unfortunately that is not the case. Now I am forced to wake up every day and attempt to get to work on a street that was once just crowded, but has now been redesigned intentionally to cause more delays.

It is obvious those responsible for this decision have never driven on Decoro during rush hour, much less during off-peak hours trying to get to the store.

As a driver, a bike rider and a semi-intelligent person, I cannot understand why a road so many people use on a daily basis has been purposely constricted, and call for it to be returned to its original state of two lanes in each direction before the end of August 2009.
