Decoro mistake

Whose "brain fart" was the Decoro re-stiping?

I watched the men working and told my husband Decoro will be one lane each way. He replied they couldn't do that on a busy thoroughfare.

Guess what? It was front-page news in The Signal Aug. 19.

The city's answer was "to go ahead with the plans as part of a quest to become a more bike-friendly community."

Our daughter-in-law says they are re-doing Plum Canyon. What's next? Seco Canyon, Bouquet Canyon or McBean Parkway? These busy streets all lead to the freeway.

Why was this not brought up by the city to inform the people who use these roads? I didn't see any vehicular counting machines on Decoro to count the bikes that might be on the street.

I was told that it was set up to accommodate the Amgen bikers during their tours through Santa Clarita. What's wrong with the old way of putting up cones for them? Did someone get hurt on the last tour because they didn't have designated bike lanes?

I have lived in a neighborhood where the city changed busy streets and had cars invading the local neighborhoods for short cuts around the new road changes. To all people in the surrounding streets: Good luck.

Can we picket City Hall or maybe hold signs on Decoro that say, "Honk if you think this is a brain fart?"
