The 25th on the 21st describes the Los Angeles Marathon in 2010. This will be the 25th anniversary of the Los Angeles Marathon and will be a treat for the Ventura Road Runners on March 21, 2010. This will be the 9th year that Ventura Road Runners have trained marathoners at San Buenaventura State Beach in Ventura.

The clubs coaches Ed and Eileen Cohen are excited about the new race course as it will highlight the sights of Los Angeles including Hollywood, the Sunset Strip and of course Rodeo Drive.

The Los Angeles Marathon expects to draw more than 25,000 runners to the new race course and the race organizers expect the event to be one of the top 10 marathons in the world. The Los Angeles Marathon is open to competitive runners as well as walkers.

The Ventura Road Runners training program for the Los Angeles Marathon begins on September 12. The clubs annual membership is $115 and includes training for the Los Angeles Marathon as well as other events during the year.

The Ventura Road Runners are especially excited about playing a role in this event because it is USATF sanctioned as a Boston Qualifier. The Ventura Road Runners coach, Eileen Cohen has run the Boston Marathon many times and understands how important qualifying for Boston is.

The Ventura Road Runners participate for a variety of reasons, to remain healthy, for the enjoyment and camaraderie, and the challenge of competing in marathons and trail races throughout the world. Club members have completed marathons in Italy, Ireland, Big Sur, Alaska, as well as the original marathon course in Athens, Greece. The camaraderie of club members has them traveling to events including the San Diego Rock N Roll Marathon, and the unique San Francisco Bay to Breakers race.

The Ventura Road Runners have been meeting at San Buenaventura State Beach for over nine years. Previously the club was known as the Ventura Roadrunners and was affiliated with the Los Angeles Marathon. In 2008 with the change in ownership of the Los Angeles Marathon the club became an independent, non-profit club that is part of the Road Runners of America Running Club. The Ventura Road Runners continues to be one of the official training clubs for the Los Angeles Marathon.

The Ventura Road Runners is excited about training both first time and veteran marathoners, including runners and walkers, for the Los Angeles Marathon. The club's coaches assist the members in creating a training, nutrition and race preparation plan tailored for each individuals abilities.

The Ventura Road Runners meet at San Buenaventura State Beach each Saturday at 7:30 a.m.
