Decoro a costly mistake

Decoro Drive is used by many drivers. There are multiple schools off Decoro and thousands of cars travel on Decoro everyday.
Why would the city planners decide to put in a bike lane and remove a car lane on a heavily used street? Why was this done at exactly the same time schools where starting again?

The existing sidewalk was just fine for bicycles, and safer. Ask parents if they want their kids riding on Decoro to school. I bet most tell their kids to either take a paseo or ride on the sidewalk.

I ride a bike and would not ride on Decoro even with the bike lane painted on the street.

This was a costly decision made by someone who as far as I know does not drive on this street. I would like to see the money spent on more useful projects that improve our community.
