No more cheap shots

To The Editor:

The cheap shots aimed at Senator John McCain by Joyce Evans and some members of the Democratic Alliance for Action [during the D.A.A.'s April 24 meeting] did not come from the "Hillary for President" crowd.

We respect the war hero and a great American. Incidentally, Joyce, nobody ever called you a great American, or I might be deaf.

John McCain has more courage, honesty, and integrity than most of the D.A.A. members, and cheap shots will not win you the election. That is one of many reasons that I'm not a member of the formerly "I Hate Roberta Gillis Club." Incidentally, in that connection, the haters are the new leaders of the club.

Now, I do not want John McCain in the White House. I do not agree with his views. However, I like him and respect him.

Hillary has the vision and the leadership qualities that are necessary for an effective foreign policy and an efficient economy. She will end the war in a reasonable amount of time and re-establish the Justice Department along constitutional lines. Incidentally, in times of war, we often curtail civil liberties, and the Bush Administration has done this with as much enthusiasm as John Adams did in 1798. Hillary will re-establish the respect for America that the world had under Presidents F.D. Roosevelt, Nixon, Clinton, and Wilson.

That being said, let us wish the best of luck to both Senators Clinton and McCain, and if the D.A.A. cannot show the same courtesy to the Republican nominee that I have, then I'm sorry that some of the members had parents that were very careless in giving them a system of values or were negligent in their character development.
