Senior Center offers free lectures and clinics in September

On Wednesday, September 2, Dr. Jason Goss of Unruh Chiropractic will speak on "The Overall Health Benefits of Chiropractic Care" from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. in Activity Rooms 1 & 2 of the SCV Senior Center, 22900 Market Street.

Other Consumer Lectures for September at the SCV Senior Center will be:
* Wednesday, September 9: Orthopedic surgeon Dr. John Kaufman from Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital will discuss "Osteoporosis." Both men and women are encouraged to attend.
* Wednesday, September 16: Circle of Hope founder Colleen Schaffer will speak on "Living with Metastatic Cancer & How the Circle of Hope Helps Others Affected by Breast Cancer." Mindy Burgess, R.N., HMNMH Breast Health Navigator will also speak at event. Both men and women are encouraged to attend.
* Wednesday, September 23: Patient educator Loree Searcy from Providence Health & Services will host a presentation on "D.A.S.H. Diet: Dietary Approach to Stop Hypertension."
* Wednesday, September 30: Primerica Financial Services Regional Vice President Thomas Reilly will discuss "Long-Term Care Insurance." Adult children of seniors as well as seniors are encouraged to attend.

All lectures are from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. in Activity Rooms 1 & 2 of the SCV Senior Center, 22900 Market Street.

In addition, the following free health clinics will be offered at the SCV Senior Center:
* Thursday, September 9: Hearing Clinic by Audiology Services of Newhall, 11 a.m.-noon in the Respite Office. Wednesday, September 16: Registered Dietitian Lori Robinson will administer glucose checks from 11 a.m. to noon in the Day Care office.
* Every Wednesday: Free blood pressure checks performed by nurses, noon to 1 p.m. in Activity Room 3.

There will be no foot screenings in September.
