Health care referendum?

The Obama administration's costly and far-reaching revamping of the nation's health care system is meeting with resistance from an increasingly skeptical public, which is sharing its dismay at various Democratic town hall meetings.

These concerned citizens want health care reformed but are not interested in it being transformed by a government takeover into socialized medicine.

They want reforms like more options at lower cost. They want portability of their health care from job-to-job and protection from having to directly subsidize morally reprehensible provisions, like tax-funded "abortion on demand," rationed care for the elderly, and abolition of conscience rights for medical professionals.

Perhaps health care reform, so sweeping and far-reaching, should first be presented for a public referendum!
