Parents with students at Mint Canyon Elementary School and La Mesa Junior High School who live in the Sierra Highway corridor north of Soledad Canyon Road are being invited to an informational meeting on proposed junior high and high school boundary adjustments scheduled to take effect in August 2010.

The meeting is scheduled for 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 31, in the multipurpose room at Mint Canyon School.

The meeting will cover boundary adjustments which will be presented to the Hart District Governing Board for approval in September and the impact on area schools with and without the boundary adjustments.

Boundary adjustments are necessary to relieve future overcrowding at La Mesa Junior High and Golden Valley High School while making better use of underutilized facilities at Sierra Vista Junior High and Canyon High School. The Mint Canyon area was part of the Sierra Vista/Canyon attendance area before the opening of Golden Valley High School.
