City needs to conserve water

A group of us walk at Central Park every morning and have been walking there for many years. Our normal route takes us twice around the ball fields in the front area of the park. Walking on the grass is a pleasure.

We do have one complaint however. Often, as in most days, it is like walking across a swamp in some areas.

We are being asked to conserve water at our homes by watering our lawns only three times a week and then only for short periods of time.

The park groundskeepers seem not to have gotten the same message.

We wonder how in good conscience the park can so flagrantly waste water by overwatering. It is a waste of precious water, and cannot be good for the lawns. A little less water would probably be better.

We are grateful to have this lovely park in our area and the maintenance people are doing an excellent job. Now, if they would only conserve a little on the watering.
