The city of Santa Clarita and the Santa Clarita City Council invite community members and local businesses to attend the Grand Opening event for the Magic Mountain/I-5 Expansion Project on Tuesday, September 8 at 9 a.m.

Representatives from contributing project partners MTA, Los Angeles County, Caltrans and Newhall Land will also be in attendance to celebrate the completion of the multi-million dollar construction project, designed to ease traffic congestion at one of the city's most frequently used highway arteries.

"The MTA is proud to have been part of this collaboration by contributing $15 million from the Call for Projects Program" said Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority Board Chair Ara Najarian. "In addition to state and regional benefits, the I-5 Expansion project will bring access and economic improvements at the local level," he added.

The Magic Mountain/ I-5 Expansion Project updates and improves Santa Clarita's transportation system by improving mobility, enhancing safety, alleviating congestion, and greatly increasing the capacity of the affected interchange and local roadways. The entire Magic Mountain-Interstate 5 expansion project was funded through Los Angeles County, Newhall Land, and Metro.

"Thanks to the Expansion Project's improvements, the Magic Mountain/I-5 Interchange is now better equipped to accommodate rush hour traffic flow as well as provide a safer commute," said Mayor Frank Ferry. "As the community continues to thrive this popular interchange is now also prepared to meet future transportation needs of the region."

The Grand Opening event will be held at the corner of Magic Mountain Parkway and The Old Road. Attendee parking will be available in the Marie Callendar's Parking lot, located at 27630 The Old Road.
