The results for the 2009 California Standardized Testing and Reporting (STAR) test were released today by the state Department of Education, and local school districts are showing strong growth over the past year.

Newhall School District has made a significant gain in English-language arts, math and science, and the William S. Hart Union High School District reports that seventh- and eighth-graders made the highest gain in English-language arts.

The complete results are now posted on the Department of Education Web site.

On the 2009 STAR Test Results search page, use the dropdown menus to refine your search by county, school district, individual school, and other student demographic criteria.

See Wednesday's edition of The Signal newspaper for the complete story.
