Two mountain lions were spotted near the 21300 block of Oakriver Lane of Newhall shortly after 5 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon, according to officials at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station.

While deputies reported that the mountain lion did not pose a threat to local residents, some small bones, apparently belonging to a small domestic animal, were found in the same area as the mountain lion.

The California Department of Fish and Game responded to the area. A large male mountain lion was chased into the rural portion of the area hillside, though there were no reports about what happened to the second mountain lion.

Deputies went door-to-door in the area to warn residents of the sightings.
