Your view nailed it

In the Sunday, Aug. 2, Opinion, The Signal's "Our View" editorial on the state Legislature, "No one goes back to Sacramento," hit it right on the head. It was a perfect, great article on the reality of government as a whole.

You state: "Any idiot can do it in California; plenty of idiots are doing it."

The essence of this article is that one does not need experience to run for state office. After all, how much experience does one need to screw up everything?

Like most people, I am sick of hearing the Democrats blame the Republicans and the Republicans blame the Democrats for all that goes wrong or does not balance out. The fact is, they are all equally to blame, A to Z!

These turkeys are completely out of touch and focus. Take Assembly Speaker Karen Bass and her counterpart in the Senate, Darrell Steinberg, who both had the gall to give pay raises to their people while other state employees were being laid off, not to mention people losing their jobs and homes.

And not until an uproar from the public did they pull back on this nearsighted action.

You also state, "The difference between the crop of lawmakers and the rest of us is that they've had their shot and they've blown it."

You also state, "In the meantime, we need to send the clearest message possible. No incumbent goes back."

I truly hope that in the next election the voters take heed of this as they did this past May and are not blindly led by the fancy flyers coming in the mail or the typical rhetoric being flung like cow manure.
