Friendly Valley service
Who:
Pastor Stan Fix at the Friendly Valley Community Church (United Methodist)
What: Fix's message is entitled "A God Who Loves to Give," based on the Lord's prayer, Luke 11:1-13. Special music will be presented by Chandler Shaw. Join us for fellowship and coffee after the service. All are welcome. Invite a "FRAN" - a friend, relative, acquaintance or neighbor.

Christ Church moving
Who: Christ Church, Santa Clarita, a member of the Confederation of Reformed Evangelical Churches
What: Christ Church is moving to a new location. The first service at their new location will be held Sunday, Aug. 23. Meeting in a home, Christ Church started three years ago with eight adults under the leadership of Pastor Garrett Craw. The sanctuary, located on Valley Street, will accommodate the growing congregation that now consists of 25 families.

Alpha course on Christian basics
Who: St. Clare Church
What: Alpha course. Alpha is a practical introduction to the Christian faith intended for those who are searching for faith or looking to refresh their basic understanding of Christianity.
Each session begins with a shared dinner, followed by a video presentation for the group and then small-group discussion. Also included in the course is a weekend away.
Registration is now open. Aug. 12 topic is Christianity: Boring, untrue and irrelevant?
Cost for the course, including the weekend away, is $125.
When: 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesdays, Aug. 12 through Nov. 4, except Sept. 30. The weekend away is Oct. 2 to Oct. 4.

Taste the world
Who: Bethlehem Lutheran Ministries
What: Fundraiser to support this year's Follow the Star ... to Bethlehem. Third annual "Great Tastes of the World," an evening of foods from different parts of the world, a silent auction, some live music by The jbMac Band and wine tasting from Vino 100.
Tickets are $25, which includes entry, food and non-alcoholic beverages. Wine tasting is $7.50 for three tastes. Follow the Star is an annual pageant which recreates scenes from Jesus' life in a drive-thru presentation for the public.
When: 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday

Summer in the Psalms
