Obama must be told soon

Regarding "Leave government out of health care" (Howard P. "Buck" Mckeon, Opinion, July 19): I am very proud to have Congressman McKeon as my representative in Congress. He has his head on straight. It is really a shame we can not have this kind of representation from the Democrats who are in power.

Obama and his followers are planning to change our country that we love. We cannot afford to do the plan they propose.

Any simple-minded individual can see that, but our vote-hungry president and House leader cannot.

I have a granddaughter who was a medical student. She spent her vacations going to South American countries to work in free clinics.

People would line up at 6 a.m. waiting for the clinic to open. Doctors and assistants would treat 70 and 80 patients a day, all free.

I do not know to what extent the government helped but I don't believe it would be a back-breaker. There was a lot of volunteer help.

We have the potential for such a plan with all our medical schools and students wanting hands-on experience.

We don't hear of such a thing even being talked about.

I guess the needy in this country are too valuable for votes to suggest such a thing. It is easy to see the plan: Obama will have enough votes to keep him in power until his hair turns grey.

Our emergency rooms are overcrowded with people seeking free medical treatment and no one says anything.

Isn't it time we get realistic and propose something the government can afford instead of expecting small business owners and people of means to carry millions of people without health insurance?

Obama must be told soon.
