The pretrial conference scheduled for Tuesday in the upcoming criminal trial against Jacqueline Linaras was postponed until June 12, according to Judge Alice Hill of the San Fernando Superior Court.

Nearly two years after she was charged with murder and assault on a child for allegedly dumping her dead newborn daughter in a trash bin, Linaras was set to appear in Dept. G of the San Fernando Superior Court on Tuesday for her pretrial conference.

However, attorneys from both sides were not prepared to discuss formal evidence or file potential motions in the matter. Hill agreed to postpone the hearing until June 12.

Linaras, 24, is charged with killing her newborn on May 1, 2006. The body was discovered by a resident searching for recyclables in a trash bin the next day near Linaras' home in the Polynesian Mobile Home Park in Newhall.

Linaras and her boyfriend, Jose de la Cruz Depaz, were arrested on May 16, 2006, after a neighbor tipped off investigators.

Charges against de la Cruz Depaz were dropped in early 2007.

If convicted, Linaras would face 25 years to life in prison. She is in custody without bail.
