The Repertory East Playhouse continues its much-lauded "81 Series" on Friday, Aug. 14 at 8 p.m. with the critically acclaimed comedy "Beyond Therapy" by Christopher Durang, sponsored by Ed and Dana Hill of Geotechnologies Inc.

Be a Part of The 81 at the Opening Night Wine Reception will be sponsored by Engelmann Cellars at 7 p.m.

As the "Beyond Therapy" story goes, Bruce and Prudence are deeply into therapy. Prudence's macho therapist is urging her to be more assertive while Bruce's wacky female therapist wants him to meet women by placing a personal ad.

She does not fully comprehend that Bruce has a male lover who is not pleased by Bruce's desire to date a woman: Prudence.

Bruce doesn't know how to handle poor nervous Prudence and Prudence doesn't know what to make of her unpredictable new boyfriend. They do learn to live beyond therapy in this delightful Off Broadway hit that moved successfully to Broadway.

"This is just what the doctor ordered," says REP Artistic Director Ovington Michael Owston. "Enjoy a glass of wine, and get ready to laugh, really hard."

"Offers the best therapy of all: guaranteed laughter." -- Time.

"Filled with off beat laugh lines, wry observations on the contemporary urban psyche and situations that range from farcical to absurd." -- Women's Wear Daily.

The REP is now serving wine and beer at the REP Wine Bar. Enjoy a glass of Engelmann Cellars Summer Quartet or CabShiraz blend. Not a wine person? Enjoy an ice cold beer before, during and after the show. Please drink responsibly.

Beyond Therapy opens Friday, Aug. 14 and will run through Aug. 29. Show times are Friday and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m.

THIS IS A LIMITED ENGAGEMENT PERFORMANCE.

This show contains adult language and adult situations and is intended for mature audiences only.

The REP will host post-show discussions immediately following each Sunday performance. Join the cast and crew for an intimate discussion about the process of creating live theatre.
