Local motorcycle enthusiasts are coming together to raise money for a Bakersfield boy who was attacked by his father and left partially blind.

Starting at Renegade Classics and ending at Route 66 Classic Grill — both located at the corner of Soledad Canyon Road and Luther Drive — on Aug. 9, the Baby Angel motorcycle run is raising funds for Angelo Mendoza, Jr.

The 4-year-old’s father, Angelo Mendoza, was arrested April 28 after allegedly attacking the boy, biting out one of his eyes and mutilating the other. Mendoza reportedly has a history of drug abuse.

The fundraiser was organized by the Bakersfield-based nonprofit group Our Baby Angel. It costs $20 per rider and $15 per passenger.

The money being raised is for a trust fund to help with the boy’s medical expenses.

Registration for the motorcycle run is from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., and the run begins at 10 a.m.

There will be a post-run party at Route 66 from noon to 4 p.m., featuring live music, raffle prizes and vendors.
