"One August Night," a special wine event benefiting the Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Clarita Valley, will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 18 from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Salt Creek Grille, 24415 Town Center Drive, Valencia 91355.

Hosts Carl and Terry Kanowsky invite guests to sample wines from two of California's premier Central Coast wineries, Zaca Mesa Winery and Vineyards and Jaffurs Wine Cellars.

Wine Spectator recently designated Jaffurs' 2007 Santa Barbara Syrah as "highly recommended." As for Zaca Mesa, Wine Spectator just listed its 2005 Santa Ynez Syrah as a "smart buy."

Zaca Mesa has a long history as being the proving ground for many of Santa Barbara's finest winemakers, such as Jim Clendenen, Adam Tolmach, Bob Lindquist, Lane Tanner, Ken Brown and Ben Silver.

President of Zaca Mesa, Brook Williams has offered for guests to get a taste of Zaca's Black Bear Syrah, their high-end, exclusive wine normally available only to long-term wine club members and will be premiering their new wine Mesa Reserve Syrah for the first time ever. He has also put up a flight of three magnums by the winemaker of their estate Syrah for an auction idea.

Williams and the winemaker from Jaffurs will be present at the tasting to do the pouring.

Hor d'oeuvers provided by Salt Creek Grille. Reserve a spot now as seating is limited. Donation is $75 per person. RSVP by calling (661) 254-3063.
