An advisory vote on governance for Stevenson Ranch, West Ridge, Castaic and Tesoro will appear on the Nov. 3 ballot, county supervisors agreed this week.

The nonbinding vote will allow residents of those communities to recommend the style of government they prefer, said Tony Bell, spokesman for Supervisor Michael Antonovich.

The options are: incorporation of West Ranch, Castaic, Val Verde, Tesoro and Sunset Pointe; annexation of those areas by the city of Santa Clarita; or remain an unincoporated area.

The initial feasibility study, the annexation feasibility analysis and a comparison of alternatives for a change in governance structure will be made available for public review and discussed in public forums prior to the vote, Bell said.

“With the vital information necessary to make informed choices with regard to the future of their communities, this advisory vote will give our residents in unincorporated communities an opportunity to be heard,” Antonovich said.
