The Miller Garden is a beautifully landscaped view lot with 56 roses of various types. Kay Miller's favorite roses are her climbing Don Juan, which is very fragrant; the lovely moonstone hybrid tea, and the single-petalled gizmo miniature. They grow 22 miniature roses, nine climbers, such as altissimo, and assorted hybrid teas, such as veterans' honor and gemini, floribundas such as sexy rexy and marmalade skies, grandifloras, shrubs and various groundcover roses.

In addition to roses, the Miller garden also features palm trees, bird of paradise, magnolia, crepe myrtle, hibiscus, lilies and camelias. A special feature is a beautiful red meidilland that cascades from a tall tree. The garden is colorfully filled with an assortment of annual and perennial flowers.

Second Garden
Noon - 3 p.m.
Garden of Bob and Kitty Belendez
21133 Kingscrest Dr., Saugus, CA 91350
(661) 296-5033, e-mail rosextckb@aol.com

Directions: Go north on Bouquet Canyon Road. Turn left onto Urbandale and go three blocks. Then turn right onto Kingscrest Drive to the fifth house on the left side of the street.

Bob and Kitty Belendez grow more than 350 roses of all types, such as miniatures, hybrid teas, floribundas and shrubs. They grow many fragrant antique roses like Baronne prevost, rose de Rescht, Anna de Diesbach, Sydonie, Salet, Russelliana, Paul Neyron and Yolande d'Aragon. Sombreuil, Russelliana and Louise Odier drape happily over arches. Enjoy the floribunda bed in the parkway, which features sexy rexy, our lady of Guadalupe, lavaglut and fabulous among a collection of nearly 50 floribundas.

As you enter the rear garden you will see a sparkling, crystal clear swimming pool with a rose motif. The focus is a natural rock waterfall, and if you look to the right, beneath the waterslide, you will see a red rose in the water. Four tree roses (pink Gruss an Aachen, playboy, symphony and fair Bianca) are planted in a curve along the water's edge. More than 150 miniature roses are grown in seven-gallon pots.

Of particular note is a 35-foot long stair-step shelf containing 36 of the best exhibition miniature roses along the back fence, including behold, glowing amber, Marriotta, and fairhope. Larger minis such as Miss Flippins, arcanum, Erin Alonso, bee's knees, and irresistible are grown in 10-gallon containers. A group of 30 English roses rounds out the collection, including golden celebration, the squire, Leander, radio times, perdita, and Abraham Darby.
