Pedestrian struck by car; in critical condition

A 16-year-old boy was struck by a car while crossing Bouquet Canyon Road north of Newhall Ranch Road Monday afternoon, and is in critical condition, according to a news release from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station.

A 1993 Toyota Corolla, driven by Denise Alvarado, F/34, of Palmdale, was traveling southbound on Bouquet Canyon Road in the number three lane when the car struck the pedestrian, who was crossing from the east curb line to the west curb line.

The pedestrian, a Santa Clarita resident, was treated at the scene by Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel and taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital, where he is listed in critical condition. The pedestrian's name is being withheld pending notification of his family.

Detectives in the SCV Sheriff Station's traffic office continue their investigation.
