Saugus Union School District incumbents Doug Bryce, Paul De La Cerda and Judy Egan Umeck announced their campaigns for re-election Friday.

"Maintaining the stellar diversity of educational programs, preserving jobs and being responsive to the changing needs of our community will continue to be a priority," the joint statement said.

The school district's election is Nov. 3.

Bryce has served Saugus Union for eight years, De La Cerda for four years and Umeck for 13 years.

Umeck said the school district still has difficult decisions to make about budget cuts, and she believes her experience will benefit the district.

"I can be responsive to the needs of the community," she said.

Umeck also enjoys working with district staff in making decisions about Saugus Union.

"I'd like to see that momentum continue," she said.

It's a thought shared by Bryce.

"I think our board and management team work very well together," he said.

With the budget challenges ahead, Bryce hopes to continue serving and working with the district's management team to benefit student education.

De La Cerda said he hopes to serve the community for another term.

"I ... promise to do my best to provide a voice for those I serve throughout the community," he said.
