Mama-O, the rock/R&B band featuring Santa Clarita Valley residents Joe Elliott and Tim McIntyre, returns to the Baked Potato nightclub in Studio City for a pair of sets tonight.

Fronted by singer Carol ("Mama-O") Rogers, whose vocal power and goofy stage antics add an element of unpredictability to each show, the band plays blazing covers of rock and soul classics from the '60s to the '90s. Their repertoire ranges from "Running With the Devil" to "The Letter" to "You Oughtta Know."

Elliott, a Canyon Country resident, plays lead and rhythm guitar. McIntyre, from Castaic, pounds out the backbeat on drums.

Both Elliott and McIntyre are executives and instructors on their respective instruments at the world-renowned Musicians Institute college of music in Hollywood.

Rounding out the Mama-O lineup are bassist Brian Allen, keyboardist Christian Klikovits and percussionist Pete Iglesias. All are noted L.A.-based session and road musicians.

The band plugs in at approximately 9:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. Seating is limited, and both hour-plus shows usually sell out.

"Don't sit too close to the stage," Elliott warned, laughing. "Mama-O might jump out and get you!"
