In response to an anonymous tip alleging that marijuana was being grown and sold at a Violin Canyon apartment, Narcotics Detectives began an investigation over a month ago.

Today, during the service of a search warrant in the 27600 Block of Violin Canyon, Castaic, the marijuana grow was located and a 23-year-old man was arrested.

Detectives reported that this grow was inside a one bedroom apartment at the location. They seized 24 marijuana plants in various stages of development. Four of the plants were mature and had buds ready to be dried. A small amount of finished product which was dried and ready to be sold was also located.

Each marijuana plant can yield a pound of sale able product and each ounce of product can have a street value of $300 to $400.

The plants, located in the living room and bedroom of the apartment, did have a distinguishable odor which could be detected from outside the apartment.

The suspect, whose name has not been released pending further investigation, is a resident of Castaic. He was booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station and was released on $30,000 bond.
