Madoff didn’t kill anyone

Murderers, rapists, child molesters, kidnappers, or senior abusers — the lowest forms of predators — don’t receive this kind of sentence.

When these criminals are sentenced they usually have a chance of a parole.

How can heinous crimes such as the ones mentioned above be put in the same category as a swindler, con and fraud artist and embellisher?

Bernard Madoff bilked millions of dollars from investors.

That was a heartless and calculated act. Lives have been decimated by his Ponzi scheme.

But a life is more precious than all the money in the world. Madoff’s was a bloodless crime with no bodily harm.

A financial setback can be rectified and replenished but a human life cannot be replaced.

Madoff’s crime cannot be overlooked and a message has been sent.

But judge Denny Chin handed down a sentence that doesn’t fit the crime.

Give this kind of sentence to the rapists, child molesters, murderers, kidnappers and senior abusers with no chance of parole.

The 150 years will never be enough, but the sentence will fit the crime.
