Canned food drive to benefit SCV Food Pantry 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.  Meet characters from Star Wars from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. and see a performance by Shanica Knowles (Amber on Disney’s “Hannah Montana) who will sing and sign autographs at 1 p.m. Attendees are asked to donate at least one canned good. Anyone who donates a canned good can have their pictures taken with their favorite Star Wars character. Pavillions at McBean and Magic Mountain Parkway. Free.

Aug. 2

The American Cancer Society will host its inaugural Santa Clarita Valley gala at the Tournament Players Club (TPC), 26550 Heritage View Lane, Valencia. The Tuscan-themed event will feature live entertainment, food, and wine and aims to raise funds for cancer research and those battling the disease. Sponsors are needed. Aug. 8
The Sweet Charity Cake Auction & Competition .  Enter your cake in the competition to find out who is the SCV’s “Ace of Cakes.” Cakes will be judged by celebrity guests and chefs. The “Sweet Charity” Preview, 10  a.m.  to 2 p.m., tickets $10 each. The “Sweet Charity” Auction and Competition Reception, 6  p.m. to 10 pm., tickets $40 each. Held at the corner of Circle Drive and Town Center Drive, Westfield Valencia Town Center. All proceeds will benefit the SCV Youth Project. Info:
