Memorial services for the Los Angeles Police detective who killed herself in the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station lobby last week are scheduled for Thursday.

Los Angeles Police Detective Susan Clemmer, 41, will be memorialized at Eternal Valley Memorial Park at 10 a.m. on Thursday, according to a statement from the mortuary.

Clemmer had shot herself in the head after walking into the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station June 6 with a box of letters and contact information for relatives.

She had been an LAPD officer since 1989 and had received national attention when she testified in defense of the officers involved in the infamous 1991 Rodney King beating. She rode in the ambulance with King after the beating and testified he had been laughing and spat blood on her uniform, apparently under the influence of PCP.

The officers' acquittals in state court led to the 1992 Los Angeles Riots, though two were later convicted in federal courts.

Since then, Clemmer had worked as an undercover narcotics detective and, most recently, investigated cases of drugs sent through the mail.
