Think before you vote

To The Editor:

America is fortunate that both the Democratic and Republican candidates are extremely qualified for the
presidency. Both Hillary Clinton and John McCain have the experience and love of country to guide the ship
of state through stormy waters. No need to worry about another Bay of Pigs under their watch.

I will vote for Clinton because I share her views on national health care, the pursuit of alternative
sources of energy, her support of public education, and ending the war in Iraq.

However, a vote for McCain is another vote for America. He is a war hero and a liberal Republican who
would be a very different president from George Bush.

He has already shown his independence from the president as a United States senator.

I think Sen. Clinton has a better grasp of the economic conditions and the solutions needed than McCain. Besides the economy, the country cannot afford to continue this war, and a Clinton administration would end it sooner than a McCain administration.

Some people have suggested a third choice other than Clinton or McCain. I say forget it if you have any
sense of patriotism, or if you have any sense at all.

There is no other choice.

The third option on the books will create a national emergency of a gigantic magnitude, and the country
will be doomed. Think of George Washington and Thomas Jefferson and how hard they have worked to create a country that you wish to destroy.
