It's summer and the heat is kicking in. But never fear, even if you don't have your own pool, there are numerous "swimmin' holes" available. These experiences range from public pools, such as those at the Santa Clarita Aquatics Center and local parks, to swimming beaches at Castaic Lake, to wet and wild water parks. And never fear, even if you have to work, and summer fun is only a dim memory, your kids can stay cool and have fun without you. It's time to get wet!

The Santa Clarita Aquatic Center offers three pools, including a 50 meter competition pool with a competition timing system, a 25 meter dive pool, and an activity pool complete with water play equipment and a 160 foot water slide.

The facility also provides concession facilities and locker/changing rooms on the landscaped and lighted grounds. With plenty of parking and ample deck space for lounging around, the Aquatic Center is sure to have something for everyone.

Available at the Aquatics Center and at its associated public pools, there are recreational swims, a wide variety of swimming lessons, swim teams, dive teams, water polo teams, Dive-in Movie Nights and much more. Consult the Seasons brochure for hours and details.

Vehicle entry fees for the summer are $11 per day. R/Vs are $12 and busses $25.

Castaic Lake Lagoon offers a wide variety of recreational activities, including fishing, picnicking, camping, non-gasoline powered boating and swimming during summer only.

Note: Swimming is only allowed at the Lower Lake (Lagoon). Swimming is prohibited in the lagoon, except in designated areas and only when a lifeguard is on duty.

Effective July 1, 2009 - All swimming areas will be closed on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Swim beach hours for the summer are Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Lizard Lagoon: Lounge lizards lead a life of luxurious leisure at the Lagoon, a fun-filled 7,000 square foot tropical getaway for teens and up. Small children must be accompanied by an adult.

Lost Temple Rapids: Take your whole family on a rafting adventure along the winding waterways of the ancient and mysterious Lost Temple aqueduct.

Reptile Ridge: Take a rapid ride into reptilian revelry through this towering complex of five seriously twisted water slides.

River Cruise: Coast along a 1,300-foot-long lazy river. It's the scenic route all the way, as you cruise our relaxing watercourse, past Castaway Cove and Shipwreck Shores.

Shipwreck Shores: Your kids won't want to be rescued from Shipwreck Shores. Featuring dozens of family activities, plus our famous, giant, water-spouting skull. For big and little mateys alike.

Taboo Tower: Scale the heights of forbidden Taboo Tower -- then, slide back to earth at extremely high speed.

Tiki Falls: Raft like a rocket down a high-speed 400 foot tube slide and out the gaping jaws of a giant tiki.

Tornado: Drop 7.5 stories into a 60 story tall, 132 foot long water funnel. Then, navigate through 5,000 gallons of churning water.

Tickets are $24.99 for adults and $19.99 for seniors and kids under 48 inches tall. Through July 31 everyone pays the junior price when they buy four or more tickets. Tickets are available online and at the gate.

Pacific Spin: Four-person raft ride.
