The city of Santa Clarita’s Concerts in the Park series is one of the most popular summertime traditions year after year. Spanning multiple genres, the 2009 talent lineup features returning favorites and first-time bands including popular tribute bands and high-energy performers, ensuring eight weeks of non-stop fun for the whole family.

Concerts in the Park are free to attend and the series kicks off tomorrow night at Central Park. The hits continue every Saturday beginning at 7 p.m. through Aug. 29.

First to hit the stage this summer is the Skinny Little Twits, one of California’s premier classic rock and dance bands. Performing tomorrow night, the Twits have opened for The Go Go’s, Christopher Cross and “Weird Al” Yankovic.

The hits keep coming the following Saturday, June 18 with the greatest Led Zeppelin tribute band going, Led Zepagain. The group has sold out countless shows at the House of Blues, the Galaxy Theater and more, bringing the sound of Led Zeppelin to life once again.

The Doo-Wah Riders are sure to please fans who like a little twang in their music. The band, which has opened for the likes of Garth Brooks, George Strait, Alabama and Faith Hill, will take the Central Park stage on July 25.

Another energetic band, the SCV All Stars, is comprised of the some of the Santa Clarita community’s best A-list musical talent. Performing tribute songs from a wide variety of genres, the band is sure to give an all-star performance to remember on Aug. 1.

For those looking to dance to some great, upbeat music straight from the islands, the city will present Urban Dread on Aug. 8. Referred to as “one of L.A.’s most danceable reggae bands,” Urban Dread is sure to be a must-see. The band has been honing its sound and performing its uplifting brand of reggae music for more than 20 years.

As the 2009 Concerts in the Park series begins to wind down, the performances continue to amp up. On Aug. 15, Don’t Stop Believing will perform the sounds of Journey with soaring vocals and searing guitar riffs. Don’t forget to come back for more on Aug. 22, when Lisa Haley & The Zydecats perform their zydeco tunes in the spirit of jazz, folk, rock and blues that continuously attracts fans internationally.

The explosive summer concert series culminates with the return of one of Concerts in the Park’s most popular performers — Boogie Knights. Head over to Central Park on Aug.29 for one of the greatest disco revival shows in the world as Boogie Knights brings the 2009 series to a groovy close.

Concerts in the Park is one of the city’s most celebrated summer traditions, providing an amazing venue for Santa Clarita families to relax and enjoy a night out at a concert, free of charge.
