God does care

Does God care if His name is written on our city logo?

I say, “Yes, God cares.”

Does it honor him to put His name on the city logo?

I say, “It does.”

Does it remind us when we see it who gives us our very life and breath? I say, “Yes.”

Seeing the words ”In God We Trust” not only honors God, but reminds people who is in charge of heaven and earth and their very lives.

I believe this issue is far from minor in God’s eyes. We are here for a very few moments on this earth, and then we will all stand before God as the Bible says, “It is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgement” (Hebrews 9:27).

If we look closely in the Old Testament, God says about His commands, “You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates” (Deuteronomy 6:9).

Thankfully, this is not a “vain oblation of piety” as someone has stated, because the God of heaven and earth doesn’t require perfection in order to honor, obey or follow Him.

Instead, He tells us, “By grace you have been saved through faith, not of yourselves. It is the gift of God, not of works, lest any man boast” (Eph. 2:9).

God is not interested in how perfect the people are who put His name on our city seal, as the Bible tells us clearly, “There is none righteous, no not one” (Romans 3:10).

His name should be lifted high, so that we the people of Santa Clarita remember who our only true and trustworthy help is on this earth — God.

Yes, In God We Trust.
