Art Stop Project
The city of Santa Clarita Arts and Events Office (AEO) and the Arts Advisory committee (AAC) are seeking to promote ten artworks for the Art Stop Project, which will be located in transit bus shelters throughout the community of Santa Clarita from September 1, 2009 to October 5, 2009.

These ten chosen artworks will be included to advertise the Santa Clarita Festival of the Arts, which will be held on October 3, and 4, 2009, located on Main Street in Old Town Newhall. We would greatly appreciate it for artists to participate in this event, and share their passion for art among the community of Santa Clarita.

This year's theme is "Watch Art! Create Art! Live Art!" and the AAC will select the artists based on concept, artistic quality, and adherence to theme. Other information, including deadlines, budgets, and applications will be included in this Request for Submissions located at http://www.streetartfest.com/project.asp.

Festival of the Arts
The city of Santa Clarita is in preparation for our annual Festival of the Arts, formerly Street Art Festival, which will be held on October 3-4, 2009. We are currently looking for artists to sell their work as a fine arts and crafts vendor. If you are interested in being a part of this fun community event please download the attached vendor application and visit www.streetartfest.com for more information.

The two day fee for a 10' x 10' space is only $150. The application deadline is Monday, August 10, 2009. You may send the application, check, and required photos or photocopies via postal mail.

All items must be your own work, and must be handmade or hand embellished. Vendors will have to provide their own canopies, weights, lighting, tables and chairs; however, all booths will have access to electricity. In addition, overnight security will be provided Saturday night.

Art Tank/661 Arts
Please join us for one of the upcoming 661Arts meetings. I have been asked to head up the 661Arts effort, so I would like to take that opportunity to begin discussing many of the things that I have already been talking about with many of you at the ART TANK meetings.

The first meeting will take place at the usual time/location on July 16 (Orchard Rooms from 3:45 pm to 5:00 pm). We will continue to have discussions about how we can interest and excite the people of the SCV about art, as well as continue talking about specific events, actions, etc. that we can do/create to further the cause.

I plan on having another 661Arts meeting on July 22 from 6 to 8 pm for those people that can not make the earlier meeting. You do not have to attend both, but please do come to one or the other. This evening meeting will take place away from City Hall at the newly opened Santa Clarita Valley Center for Photography.

The Center is located at 28368 Constellation Rd., Suite 340. We will again spend most of the time discussing ideas and brainstorming about how to excite the SCV about the arts.
