The city of Santa Clarita launched its Green Santa Clarita Web site today, giving visitors a local website to visit for all things "green" in the city.

The new site, www.GreenSantaClarita.com, features comprehensive environmental information specifically targeted for local residents, businesses, builders and more.

In addition to a calendar of "green" events and frequently updated information on the city of Santa's continuing environmental efforts, residents can visit www.GreenSantaClarita.com to find out information on issues such as water conservation, energy efficiency, recycling and climate change.

The site also features information of concern to Santa Clarita residents, such as household hazardous waste and E-waste disposal, bulky items pickups and illegal dumping, as well as green-friendly tips for that are easy to use by Santa Clarita families.

"Environmental protection and awareness has remained a top priority for Santa Clarita since it attained cityhood more than 20 years ago," said Mayor Frank Ferry. "(The new site) provides a one-stop-shop for community members, builders and local businesses seeking comprehensive information on the city of Santa Clarita's numerous ‘green' efforts."

Local businesses visiting the Web site can find green business tips, information on the Recycling Market Development Zone, answers to questions about commercial waste services and more.

Local builders can utilize the site to find out more about sustainable development programs, environmental legislation, green municipal services, green building programs and more.

Protecting the environment is a high priority for the city of Santa Clarita. The "green" efforts began shortly after cityhood and have yielded significant results, including nearly tripling the number of trees planted since cityhood, implementing a citywide recycling and greenwaste collection program, creating the region's first Open Space and Preservation District and much more.

The site will continually be updated and added to as new information is made available, making www.GreenSantaClarita.com a true resource.
