Santa Clarita's Concerts in the Park are held Saturdays in Central Park at 7pm

The first performance of the city of Santa Clarita's 2009 "Concerts in the Park" series kicks off this Saturday, July 11 at 7 p.m. with a performance by classic rock and dance band Skinny Little Twits.

Concerts in the Park are free to attend and will continue every Saturday evening at 7 p.m. through Aug. 29.

The Skinny Little Twits, whose name reflects the fun and lighthearted spirit of the talented and eclectic group, is one of California's premier classic rock and dance bands. The Twits have opened for National acts like The Go-Go's, Christopher Cross and "Weird Al" Yankovic and have headlined concerts at numerous venues throughout California.

"Skinny Little Twits is the perfect band to kick off the 2009 Concerts in the Park series," Mayor Frank Ferry said. "Their unique blend of energetic sound and quality performance style perfectly sets the tone for the entire summer concert series."

The Concerts in the Park series is one of the city's most popular summertime traditions year after year. The 2009 talent lineup features returning favorites and first-time bands, ensuring eight weeks of non-stop fun for the whole family.
