Challenge for Ray

This letter is in response to the one written by Frank Ray (“Question of trust,” The Signal, June 14).

He asks why and what I trust in God.

Why I trust in God comes from the prophets who foretold events that came to pass that no human could have known before hand. From the seven world empires that would come to exist to the prediction that Alexander’s Greek empire would be split into fourths, to the dispersion and reforming of the state of Israel, to every event and word spoken by Jesus on the cross, to the naming of Cyrus the Great more than a hundred years before he was even born, and many more.

This is why.

No one controls my mind or asks me not to question, I have a brain. Just as you have faith in the theory of evolution, I, too, have faith.

As to what I trust in God, I trust that God will restore this planet and the souls of humanity back to the harmony and coexistence with God that it once had.

Like most atheists, Ray wants to place all of the world’s ills at the feet of God. They would have us forsake belief in God for the belief in man.

In the two-paragraph diatribe of all the world’s wrongs, none of them were committed by God. All of them were committed by the very man he would have us place above God.

God put us in charge of this planet with free will. It’s our mess to fix, not His. We can trust that God will someday right these wrongs, but until then it’s our world to fix.

That’s the whole point of life: what we make of it.

I, too, have a challenge for Mr. Ray: Prove that there is no God and that we can trust man to do the right thing.
