A motorcyclist was arrested on suspicion of drug possession after roaring down Newhall Avenue on Tuesday night quick enough to grab a sheriff's deputy's attention and crashing moments later into a parked car, authorities said.

William Pollay, 30, suffered a broken leg from the crash near the intersection of Newhall Avenue and Pine Street about 10:30 p.m., said sheriff's Lt. Mark Hershey.

Pollay was being treated at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital for his leg and other injuries.

After the crash, deputies searched him and found some methamphetamine, some drug-related items and about $2,000 in cash, Hershey said. The motorcycle, they learned, was stolen.

Pollay was being held in lieu of $30,000 bail.

"It's not a good day for Mr. Pollay," Hershey said.
