This Sunday, 15 Miss SCV candidates will be presented at the Hyatt Valencia.
All of the Miss ladies are 18 - 25 years old. The new Miss SCV will receive a $1,000 educational scholarship. A new division this year is the Ms. contestants, 26-plus years of age and single.
"So many of the ladies have said to me that they are not ready to stop competing just because of their age, so I opened the division up to see just how many are truly interested," said pageant director Mardi Rivetti.
"After all the weeding-out of contestants we have four wonderful ladies for the first-ever Ms. SCV."
Another division, which was presented and produced in 1992 by Mardi Rivetti, is the Mr. SCV competition.
The man who takes the title of Mr. SCV will also receive a $500 cash prize.
"We have two men in the competition," Rivetti said. "I know it must be difficult working with all the ladies. They are two handsome, successful business professionals here in Santa Clarita. The entire night will be a blast. The theme is boxing, so the out-going queens will do a boxing number with the two Mr. SCV contenders."
