Vermont needs more light

It is the 21st century and yet there is still no light at Vermont Drive and Lyons Avenue in Newhall.

The street that crosses Lyons is only half lit. On dark nights, the only light that falls upon the streets comes from the porch lights of neighboring houses. They provide the only visibility.

The city says the problem is that the homes are private properties, yet Vermont is constantly busy. Because there are no stop signs, almost at every blink of the eye a car passes, speeding its way along the street.

This is dangerous not only during the day but even more so at night.

What can we do to transition from this caveman era to what our city should be?

Let's light up the road. Turn the lights up, Santa Clarita!
