Little Shepherd's Nursery School in Newhall recently celebrated its 42nd graduation on Friday.

Among those attending the festivities was California state Assemblyman Cameron Smyth who graduated from Little Shepherd's in June 1976.

Smyth was on hand to celebrate the graduation of his son, Gavin Smyth.

Gavin Smyth will now move on to kindergarten in the fall.

Little Shepherd's is the oldest continuously operating preschool in the Santa Clarita Valley.

The director of the school, known as "Miss Esther" and her staff enjoy seeing former students come back to enroll their own children.

"The traditions of Little Shepherd's remain part of its great appeal," Miss Ester said.
