Start Smart class for teens at CHP
The Start Smart class is aimed at helping newly licensed drivers and future licensed teenage drivers become aware of the responsibilities that accompany the privilege of being a licensed California driver. Teens attend this class with their parent(s). The class is held at the Newhall Area California Highway Patrol Station, 28648 The Old Road, Valencia. Classes will be held June 23, July 23, Aug. 18 and Sept. 22. Attendees need to RSVP (661)294-5540 and provide name, parent name and daytime telephone number.

School boundary adjust meeting
Families in the Wiley Canyon school attendance area and incoming seventh- and eighth-graders at Rancho Pico Junior High School are invited to attend an informational meeting on proposed attendance boundary adjustments proposed by the Hart School District. The proposed adjustments would affect students from the Calgrove/Hidden Valley areas of Newhall and would take effect in August 2010. Meeting: 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. today in the multipurpose room at Wiley Canyon School. The proposed changes will be explained and public input will be accepted.

Prevent sexual harassment
Sexual Harassment Prevention Training will be held Thursday, June 18. Local chapter of the Professionals in Human Resources Association presents a two-hour course designed to meet the California requirement that all supervisors are trained in sexual harassment prevention techniques. Registration is $65 for individuals or $50 for three or more employees from the same company. Donate blood at Henry Mayo
Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital's blood drive will be held 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday, June 18. The 12-hour blood drive will be held in the Henry Mayo/COC Clinical Education Center on the hospital's campus, 25727 McBean Parkway, Valencia. Giving blood is simple, painless, and it takes less than one hour. Summer days at the Hart Ranch
The Hart Museum is hosting Summer Days at the Ranch outside of the Ranch House from 9 a.m. to noon, one Saturday a month for

Community Hiking Club June schedule
June 20 - The Bridge to Nowhere, 10 miles RT with little to no gain, 6 major water crossings where you have to go into the water. You will need to wear water/hiker sandals, or bring a change of shoes and a towel for water crossings. Shorts or quick drying pants are a must.

Magnificent scenery, the possibility of seeing big horn sheep, and the incredible bridge 125 ft above the river,. Bring camera, lunch, and plenty of water. (Bandaids might also come in handy). Caregiver Resource Day a Seniors
The Santa Clarita Senior Center has added a mini health fair to its upcoming Saturday, June 20, Caregiver Resource Day. Running from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., the free seminar will now provide free cholesterol, glucose, blood pressure, and BMI screenings, complimentary of Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital. Chiropractor Dr. Roger De Sesa and Mobile Masseur Jim Vang will also be on board. Keynote talks at the event will cover latest research in Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease, and provide advice on care-giving.
