ETP programs are valuable for employees

Regarding Steve Lunetta's opinion column, "The state training scam" (The Signal, May 25):

Some of the main objectives of a manager/supervisor are to coach, mentor and teach employees.

This provides employees a career path opportunity for those who have the desire and willingness to enhance their knowledge and capabilities.

ETP programs are a great asset that help achieve said objectives.

I personally have been a participant of these programs for several years and have become a huge advocate of the training programs.

Most recently, we completed providing all of our key staff a course on leadership and supervisor skills.

Not only has the class been a huge personal benefit to the 20 employees who participated, but our company has also already reaped immediate benefits.

Every one of the participants has provided positive feedback and expressed true appreciation for providing them the opportunity.
We plan on continuing with future training using the ETP-funded programs. Mr. Lunetta seems to base his comments on inaccurate, second-hand information.

We have experienced the program and we challenge him to come visit us to see how effective the courses have proven to be for all our participants. Ongoing training is a must to keep employees at the top of their game and to provide the company a competitive edge.

ETP-funded programs are extremely valuable in accomplishing this advantage.
