Beginning Monday, June 8 the northbound lanes of Main Street will be re-opened to through traffic between 5th Street and Lyons Avenue in Old Town Newhall.

Traffic in the southbound direction will now be detoured at Market Street. The diversion allows for construction to continue on the west side of Main Street from Market Street to 6th Street for the Old Town Newhall Redevelopment project.

Sidewalk pavers, hardscape and tree planting are completed on the east side of the street and the installation of landscaping and street furniture will continue for several weeks.

The construction in Old Town Newhall is the result of the Old Town Newhall Specific Plan, which is designed to transform downtown Newhall into a thriving, mixed-use, pedestrian-oriented urban village with a series of economic engines.

Upon completion, the Specific Plan will include up to 1,092 new residential units and nearly 1-million square feet of new commercial space. A portion of this growth will be attributed to new development, while some will also include revitalization of existing buildings.
