One reason the Santa Clarita Valley is a fire zone is the dry and hot weather.

There is development in the mountains and canyons. Excessive and dried vegetation adds fuel to the fire.

Some insurance companies even refuse to offer fire insurance. For example, AAA does not offer fire insurance in Canyon Country because there is a limited number of fire stations.

The also city needs more fire hydrants.

Insurance for houses in the SCV is already high.

There have been three major fires in the last five years and more than 20 people lost their homes.

But people still need to be able to buy fire insurance, too.
