The city is urging the public to join in a citywide "drop, cover and hold" earthquake drill.
Whether at home, work or school, at 9:05 a.m. people are urged to drop to the floor, take cover under a sturdy desk or table and hold tightly for 30 seconds.
The drill is being organized as part of Emergency Preparedness Month.
The city will also be hosting the 16th annual Emergency Preparedness Expo on Saturday at College of the Canyons from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The city suggests using an e-mail notification system or an intercom system to announce the start of Wednesday's drill.
