Agency offers free meals for local kids

The Santa Clarita Valley School Food Services Agency invites children between the ages of 1 and 18 years old to participate in a free summer meal program.

There are no income restrictions and the meals are made available under the USDA Summer Meal Program, a federal child nutrition program. The meals must be consumed on the facility premises.

Disabled people 19 years old and older who participate during regular school periods in a public or private nonprofit school program for the mentally or physically disabled are also eligible to participate in the program.

The following sites will offer a summer meal program:

n Newhall Boys and Girls Club, 24909 Newhall Avenue. June 15 through August 11. July 3 is a holiday. Breakfast is served from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. and lunch is from noon to 1 p.m.

n SCV Boys and Girls Club, 19425 Stillmore Street. June 15 through August 12. July 3 is a holiday. Breakfast is served from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. and lunch is served from noon to 1:30 p.m.

n City of Santa Clarita Community Center, 22421 Market Street. June 15 through August 14. Lunch is served from noon to 1 p.m.
